GRAPHIC ARTIST / WEB INTERN

The Bride and Bloom® magazine is looking for a graphic artist/web intern. The Bride and Bloom magazine is the nation's premier bridal magazine. The magazine is available at major bookstores and newsstands across the country and internationally.

This is an exceptional opportunity to gain some experience and exposure in the publishing world, as well as have the opportunity for some of your work to be published in the magazine and on the website. The pace is fast, but the environment is creative, exciting, positive and entrepreneurial.

The graphic artist/web intern will assist in developing editorial concepts; the design and creation of page layouts; color correcting images; digital photography; photo editing; and assisting on photo shoots and maintaining logs. Solid understanding of how to design for online versus print is required (including file formats, file sizes, image resolution, etc.). Applicants should have a basic knowledge of color theory, typography and composition. Must be able to work within the parameters of style guide.

The intern will maintain and update web content, graphics and images. The intern will also serve as a liaison between e-commerce customers and the company’s online services. Designing basic product and category web pages, as well as managing web tracking reports for management will also be part of the job responsibilities.

Ideal candidate:

  • Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • Must be proficient on a Mac
  • Must be able to input and understand HTML code
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to adhere to production schedules and meet deadlines
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and web savvy
  • Must possess strong research skills
  • Must be highly organized, self-starting, and resourceful
  • Must have a good attitude and be a team player
  • Must be proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to work 16-20 hours per week minimum
  • Digital photography and photo editing experience preferred
  • Experience with website publishing and website analytics

EDITORIAL INTERN

The Bride and Bloom® magazine is looking for an editorial intern to assist in researching and writing compelling, high-impact content for featured magazine and web stories and articles, cover stories, and lines. The Bride and Bloom magazine is the nation's premier bridal magazine. The magazine is available at major bookstores and newsstands across the country and internationally.

This is an exceptional opportunity to gain some experience and exposure in the publishing world, as well as have the opportunity for some of your work to be published in the magazine and on the website. The pace is fast, but the environment is creative, exciting, positive and entrepreneurial.

The editorial intern will also be assisting with generating story ideas; writing copy for other communication media, including advertisements, press releases, web content, e-mails and direct mail; and reviewing and editing other related content.

Ideal candidate:

  • Must have strong writing, editorial, and research skills
  • Must have effective organizational and project management skills
  • Must have completed at least nine credits of college courses such as Communications, Journalism, English or a related business field
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented, with excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to adhere to production schedules and meet deadlines
  • Must be resourceful and enthusiastic self-starter
  • Must have a good attitude and be a team player
  • Must be proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to work on a PC and Mac
  • Must be able to work 16-20 hours per week minimum
  • Experience as editor or editorial team leader preferred
  • Familiarity with print production and online publishing process, as well as other media techniques as they relate to the editorial process preferred
  • Typing speed 50+ words per minute
